Freddy had no idea that an ordinary day behind a shelter fence was about to become the beginning of his forever story.
The deaf rescue dog had been waiting for someone to notice him. Then a stranger stopped by his enclosure, and little did he know, she was about to become the person who changed his life.
At first, Freddy looks quiet and uncertain as he rests behind the mesh of his enclosure. He doesn’t know that someone is already making plans to take him home.

Then he drops into a playful bow.
It’s his way of saying, “Come on, let’s play!”
That playful personality continues to shine throughout his new life. Freddy enjoys sticking his nose toward the open car window and feeling the breeze.
He rolls onto his back for belly rubs beside his mom’s feet. He happily sits in the back seat during another car ride and later snuggles beneath a blanket with the person who chose him.
Then comes one of the sweetest moments of all.
Freddy covers his mom’s face with kisses.
A game of tug follows, making it clear that this once-lonely shelter dog has quickly discovered how wonderful having a family can be.
What’s especially touching is that Freddy’s new family knows he may need some extra support.
In addition to being deaf, Freddy is being assessed for neurological and mobility challenges. Those circumstances could have made finding a home more difficult.
Instead, his family says those challenges only made them love him more.
And that’s what makes Freddy’s story so beautiful.
His new family isn’t focused on what he can’t do. They’re celebrating everything he can do.
He can play.
He can cuddle.
He can enjoy car rides.
He can give kisses.
He can make his family laugh.
Most importantly, he can finally feel safe.

A soft bed means comfort.
A toy means fun.
A blanket means warmth.
A loving human means home.
Freddy didn’t know what was coming when that stranger first approached his enclosure. He couldn’t have known that the person on the other side of the fence would soon become his favorite person.

Freddy’s future may come with a few extra challenges, but he now has something even more important: people who are ready to face them with him.
And judging by those happy eyes, wagging tail, playful bows, and endless kisses, Freddy knows he finally landed exactly where he belongs.
