Chili the Golden Retriever doesn’t just enjoy adventures.

He appears determined to become the star of them.

When his family told him he was going wakesurfing, Chili was more than ready for the excitement.

He jumped onto the boat, greeted everyone with cuddles and kisses, and seemed completely thrilled about whatever was coming next.

But nobody could have predicted the hilarious move he would eventually pull once he hit the water.

Chili’s adventure began with his mom getting him ready for the day.

The moment she told him they were going surfing, the Golden Retriever seemed to understand that something exciting was about to happen.

He eagerly climbed aboard the boat and happily greeted everyone around him.

Then came the gear.

Chili was suited up for his time on the water, and his excitement only seemed to grow. At one point, he even jumped into the water, apparently deciding that waiting around wasn’t really his style.

And Chili’s love of retrieving quickly became obvious.

When he spotted the surfboard, he couldn’t resist grabbing it with his mouth, prompting his owner to joke that he simply couldn’t stop retrieving.

Eventually, it was time for the real adventure.

Chili joined his dad on the water and got into position for the wakesurfing ride. As the boat began moving and the waves formed behind it, the Golden Retriever appeared completely delighted.

But then Chili did something that made the moment unforgettable.

He started swimming.

Except he wasn’t actually swimming in the water.

As the board moved across the waves, Chili stretched out his paws and began paddling through the air as though he were swimming through an invisible pool.

His front legs moved back and forth with complete enthusiasm, creating what can only be described as the ultimate doggy version of “air swimming.”

And somehow, Chili looked like he was having the time of his life.

The hilarious move quickly caught viewers’ attention, with people commenting on his unexpected technique.

One person couldn’t get over the dog’s “air swim,” while another joked that Chili could surf better than most people they know.

It’s easy to see why the Golden Retriever became the star of the outing.

Chili wasn’t simply sitting on the board while his dad handled the adventure. He seemed determined to participate in every possible way.

From greeting everyone on the boat to jumping into the water, retrieving the board and eventually paddling through the air, the energetic pup embraced every second of his surfing experience.

And his enthusiasm makes perfect sense.

Golden Retrievers are famously playful and often love activities that involve water, retrieving and spending time with their people.

Put all three together, and you have the perfect recipe for a dog who is completely convinced that wakesurfing is the greatest activity ever invented.

For Chili, the day wasn’t just about riding the waves.

It was about doing something exciting with his favorite human.

And judging by that giant smile and nonstop air swimming, he had absolutely no intention of wasting a single second.

Some dogs chase tennis balls.

Some dogs love a good swim.

Chili apparently wants to do both—even when there isn’t any water underneath his paws.

His latest adventure is proof that dogs don’t need to understand every rule of a sport to have an incredible time.

They just need a little water, a willing human and plenty of enthusiasm.

And when you’re Chili, apparently you also need to bring your very own air-swimming technique.
