Golden Retrievers have a reputation for being affectionate, playful, and completely devoted to their favorite people.
But one Golden named Brew seems to have an additional rule for his family: If someone is getting attention, he should be getting some, too.
That became especially clear when Brew found himself watching his mom and dad relax together on the couch.
The couple appeared to be enjoying a cozy moment while watching television, with Dad giving Mom a foot massage.
It was a perfectly ordinary bit of affection between two people—except Brew was sitting right there in front of them.
And he apparently had some objections.
Brew wasn’t interested in simply watching his parents spend time together. He wanted to be included.
The Golden Retriever made it clear that Dad’s hands had another important job to do.
Rather than letting his humans continue their peaceful moment without him, Brew insisted that his own feet deserved some attention, too.
Eventually, he got what he wanted.
Dad began rubbing Brew’s feet as well, giving the Golden exactly the kind of attention he had been asking for. Yet even after getting his share of affection, Brew’s expression suggested that he wasn’t entirely satisfied.
After all, why should Mom get special treatment in the first place?
The hilarious video, shared by Brew’s TikTok account, quickly had viewers laughing at the dog’s reaction.
His facial expressions seemed to tell an entire story, from the unmistakable side-eye to the look of someone wondering why his parents had briefly forgotten who the real priority was.
Several commenters clearly understood Brew’s perspective.
People joked about his expressive face, his desire to be spoiled, and the way he seemed determined to remind Dad of his responsibilities.
One commenter even joked that Dad clearly knew his role in the household.
And honestly, Brew appeared to agree.
While it’s tempting to call the behavior jealousy, whether dogs experience emotions in exactly the same way humans do remains a subject of scientific debate.
Researchers have conducted small studies suggesting dogs may display jealousy-like behaviors, but it can be difficult to determine whether they’re reacting to another individual receiving attention or simply hoping to get the same reward themselves.

For many dogs, attention from their humans is incredibly valuable. A belly rub, a scratch behind the ears, a cuddle, or even a simple acknowledgment can be enough to make them feel included.

Brew certainly didn’t throw a tantrum or cause trouble. He simply positioned himself directly in front of Mom and Dad and made his request impossible to ignore.
And once Dad started rubbing his feet, Brew had officially reclaimed his place in the family activity.
Because in Brew’s world, there is no such thing as too much attention.
There is only attention that hasn’t reached him yet.
