This Golden Retriever definitely belongs in the second group.
The adorable pup has developed an especially strong attachment to a white duck plushie, and a recent video captured exactly what happens when that treasured toy is finally returned to him after being washed.
Apparently, 45 minutes without his favorite duck was already far too long.
The Duck Was Finally Back
The moment the freshly washed plushie was available again, the Golden Retriever wasted absolutely no time reclaiming it.
In the video, he can be seen proudly carrying the duck through the house, his favorite toy firmly clutched between his teeth as he trots across the hardwood floor.
He doesn’t simply pick it up and settle down, either.
Instead, he takes his precious companion on a full tour of the house.
The pup carries the duck down the hallway and even takes it upstairs, apparently determined to make sure his favorite toy stays safely by his side.
The playful video text captures his single-minded focus perfectly: no thoughts, just duck.
And honestly, he seems perfectly happy with that arrangement.
This Toy Is Clearly Special
At one point, the Golden Retriever spots his beloved duck resting on the floor below the sofa. He leans over the edge and keeps a close eye on it rather than simply walking away.
It almost looks as though he’s already deciding where the duck should go next.
His family clearly recognizes just how important the plushie has become, too. They jokingly admitted that they might have a “codependency problem” on their hands.
But watching the pup with his favorite toy, it’s easy to understand why.
There’s something incredibly sweet about seeing a dog form such a strong attachment to one particular object.
For this Golden Retriever, the duck isn’t just another toy scattered around the house. It appears to be his special companion—the one he wants nearby whenever possible.
Forty-Five Minutes Felt Like Forever
The funniest part may be how little time the two were actually apart.
The video explains that the Golden Retriever had been separated from his duck for just 45 minutes while it was being washed.
For a human, that’s barely enough time to notice something is missing.
For this dog, apparently, it was an eternity.
Once the separation was over, he immediately grabbed his beloved plushie and carried it around as though he had been waiting all day for their reunion.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of his determination.
Comments called the pup adorable, while others joked about him finding the perfect place for his “favorite baby.” One viewer even called the clip the cutest thing they had seen all day.
