Monty is missing a leg.
But watching the Golden Retriever puppy move across a hardwood floor, you might not realize just how much he has already overcome.
The little pup is learning to navigate life on three legs, and every careful step is becoming more confident.
A TikTok shared by @meetmonty_ captures one of his latest milestones.
At first, Monty walks toward the camera hesitantly. His missing front left leg affects his movement.
Then something changes.
He finds his rhythm.
Step by step, Monty makes his way across the floor, looking more comfortable with every movement.
The text accompanying the video says it perfectly: he is “building strength and confidence.”
And apparently, he is getting better every day.
Monty was born with an underdeveloped front leg. According to his family, the limb needed to be removed for his safety.
Now, the puppy is learning how to use the three legs he has.

His body is already adapting. His chest and remaining legs are becoming stronger as he figures out how to balance and move around his environment.
It is an important reminder that dogs can be remarkably adaptable.
Monty does not appear interested in feeling sorry for himself. He is simply learning.
One careful step.
Then another.
And soon, he is moving faster.
The video prompted an outpouring of support from viewers who were clearly impressed by the puppy’s determination.
One person called Monty a strong baby and sent him lots of love.
Another encouraged him to keep going, while someone else pointed out how quickly he was moving.
Another viewer predicted that Monty would become the sweetest “tripawd.”
People were not focusing on what Monty had lost.
They were celebrating what he could do.
Life with three legs can require some adjustments, especially during the early months.
Dogs may need help learning to navigate their surroundings, and simple changes around the home can make movement safer.
Non-slip mats can provide better traction. Ramps can help dogs avoid difficult steps.
A properly fitted harness can also provide additional support during walks.
Exercise remains important, too, but dogs should not be pushed beyond their limits.
Keeping a healthy weight is equally important because extra weight can place additional stress on the remaining limbs.
Monty’s paws also deserve attention. Healthy paw pads and properly trimmed nails can help him maintain good footing as he continues adapting.
Regular veterinary visits are another important part of caring for a tripod dog.
Because three-legged dogs can be more prone to arthritis and joint pain, routine checkups can help identify potential problems early.
For Monty, every new step brings another little reason to celebrate.
For now, though, Monty seems focused on something much simpler.
Moving forward.
He started out cautiously.
Then he found his stride.
Each step builds strength, confidence, and independence.
There is something especially encouraging about watching a puppy discover that his body can do more than he may have expected.
Monty was born with a leg that could not safely remain.
But that does not mean his adventures have to stop.
If anything, he is just getting started.
Three legs are enough to chase toys, explore the world, enjoy puppyhood, and keep moving toward whatever comes next.
And judging by that determined little walk, Monty has no intention of slowing down.
