Nova has a confession to make.

She hates the rain.

And apparently, her human feels exactly the same way.

That might explain why the Golden Retriever and her mom were captured doing something many dog owners can understand: making a frantic dash back indoors during a rainy walk.

Golden Retrievers are famous for loving water.

Many will happily jump into pools, splash through puddles and race into lakes without a second thought.

Nova?

Not interested.

Not today.

The moment the rain started falling, she seemed to have one goal.

Get inside.

Fast.

In the video, Nova and her human can be seen hurrying through their neighborhood as rain comes down around them. Neither appears particularly thrilled about being outside.

They’re not stopping to enjoy the weather.

They’re not looking for puddles.

They’re not embracing the moment.

They’re getting home.

And honestly, they make a pretty convincing team.

The funniest part is that Nova’s human seems just as eager to escape the rain.

The pair aren’t simply owner and dog on an ordinary walk.

They’re partners in survival.

Their shared mission?

Avoid getting their hair—or fur—wet.

Eventually, they make it back to the porch, where they can finally slow down and take shelter from the downpour.

For Nova, the relief is obvious.

She made it.

Dry house ahead.

Wet weather behind her.

Mission accomplished.

The video struck a chord with viewers because the situation is so relatable.

Most dog owners know the struggle of taking a dog outside when the weather suddenly turns terrible.

Sometimes your dog refuses to leave the porch.

Sometimes they plant all four paws on the ground.

Sometimes they do their business in record time and immediately turn toward home.

And sometimes, apparently, they sprint alongside you because neither of you wants to deal with the rain.

Nova’s reaction is especially funny because of her breed.

Golden Retrievers have a reputation for being enthusiastic water lovers. Many seem perfectly happy getting soaked if it means having fun.

But dogs, just like people, have individual personalities.

Nova has apparently decided that water is much better when it comes from a bowl.

Her human doesn’t seem to disagree.

There’s something especially charming about that shared dislike.

Dogs often seem to mirror their people in surprising ways. They pick up on routines, moods and habits, and sometimes they even appear to develop the same preferences.

In Nova’s case, that means she and her mom have apparently reached an important agreement:

Rain is overrated.

The two may have started their walk with completely different priorities.

But once the sky opened up, they became a united front.

Get home.

Get dry.

Forget the rain.

And judging by the reaction to their video, plenty of people understood exactly how they felt.

Because sometimes the best bond between a person and a dog isn’t built around grand adventures.

Sometimes it’s simply realizing you both have the same ridiculous opinion about something.

For Nova and her human, that opinion is very clear.

They don’t care how beautiful the rain might be.

They don’t care that Golden Retrievers are supposed to love water.

When the sky starts pouring, they have only one thing in mind:

Run for the house.
