Somewhere out there is a person who hasn’t met Mari yet.

And that person could change her entire life.

Mari is a beautiful 2-year-old dog waiting for her chance at a forever home through the Lompoc Animal Center in California.

This brown-and-black Shepherd and Pit Bull Terrier mix weighs about 45 pounds — a young companion with plenty of life ahead of her.

Here’s the heartbreaking part.

Mari is ready for her next chapter. She just needs someone willing to open the door.

Currently staying in foster care, Mari enjoys going for walks and spending time around other friendly dogs.

She’s at an age when there are so many adventures still waiting to happen — new places to explore, routines to learn, and a person to call her own.

Think about what that could mean for her.

A familiar voice greeting her each morning. A leash coming out for a walk. A comfortable place to settle down at the end of the day.

The little things that many dogs take for granted could become the foundation of Mari’s new life.

And adopting her doesn’t mean starting from scratch without support.

Her adoption fee includes spaying, microchipping, vaccinations, flea treatment, and a health and wellness exam.

Mari is available through the Lompoc division of Santa Barbara County Animal Services, located at 1501 West Central Avenue in Lompoc.

You don’t need to be a hero to change a dog’s life.

Sometimes, you just need to be the person who says, “Come home with me.”

Mari is waiting. Could her forever family be you?
