Imagine being 12 years old, unable to see the world around you, and still waking up every day ready for another adventure.

That’s Dancer.

This sweet senior dog is currently waiting for someone special at the Lompoc Animal Center in California. And despite being blind, she hasn’t lost her curiosity or enthusiasm for life.

Dancer is a 12-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog mix with a beautiful brown brindle coat. Weighing approximately 27 pounds, she’s a smaller companion with a surprisingly adventurous spirit.

Shelter staff describe her as having the energy of a dog half her age.

She loves exploring new places, discovering interesting smells, and enjoying tasty treats.

She also responds wonderfully to gentle affection, making her a lovely companion for someone willing to give her the patience and understanding she needs.

Because Dancer is blind, she’ll need a thoughtful owner who can help her navigate unfamiliar surroundings and feel confident in her new home.

But her disability doesn’t define her.

She still has plenty of love to share, new experiences to enjoy, and wonderful days ahead of her.

Dancer is available for adoption or fostering through the Lompoc Animal Center, located at 1501 West Central Avenue in Lompoc.

Interested families can visit Tuesday through Sunday or call (833) 422-8413 to learn more.

Her adoption fee includes spaying, microchipping, vaccinations, flea treatment, and a health and wellness examination.

She Deserves Someone Who Will See Her Heart

Senior dogs are often overlooked, especially when they have additional needs.

But Dancer deserves more than another day waiting in a shelter.

She deserves a comfortable bed, gentle companionship, and someone who understands that love doesn’t require perfect eyesight.

At 12 years old, Dancer isn’t asking for much. She just needs someone willing to give her a chance to be someone’s beloved dog.
