Imagine being just moments away from losing everything, then, suddenly, hope appears.

That was the terrifying reality for a sweet dog named Bruce, whose story is a powerful reminder of why every second counts in the world of animal rescue.

Bruce’s journey was already tough.

Abandoned as a puppy, he found a temporary home only to be returned to the Dekalb County Animal Services shelter.

Despite being a wonderful dog with no medical or behavioral issues, the harsh reality of shelter overcrowding caught up with him.

Bruce was placed on the euthanasia list. The clock was ticking.

But fate, and a dedicated rescuer, had other plans.

Erica Perets, the incredible founder of RescueMeATL, shared Bruce’s story on TikTok, hoping for a miracle.

And a miracle is precisely what happened!

Todd Smith, a true hero, saw the plea and raced against time to the shelter.

He arrived just in the nick of time.

Bruce had already received the sedative—a chilling detail that underscores just how close he came to being lost forever. But Todd was there, and Bruce was saved.

Maybe that would be enough Maybe that would make them ban backyard breeders Maybe then they’d demand spay and neuter Maybe then they’d stop breeding and buying dogs Maybe then they’d stop giving away their animals. Mr. Todd Came at the very last second to save Bruce today at DeKalb county animal services. He then waited 5 hours for him to wake up from sedation. This is his freedom walk. Bruce is the only dog who made it out of DeKalb county alive today from the euthanasia list. Atlanta, we need your help. We are begging for help. Please understand the state of crisis we are in. Please get your pets spayed & neutered. Please understand owning a pet is for life. We are on the front lines losing so many AMAZING dogs daily. Please step up to foster and please if you cannot foster or adopt, please help us share these posts far and wide. They need us to be louder for them. #fyp #foryou #sos #urgent #atl #atlanta #dog #shelterdog #euthanasia
