When Cross Your Paws Rescue found Kita, she was just 10 months old, a tiny survivor enduring winter alone.

Terrified and “completely shut down, broken,” as foster mom Julie Cole described, Kita huddled in corners, stared at walls, and found solace only by curling into the smallest spaces.

Her biggest fear? The outdoors. The thought of stepping outside would freeze her solid, a haunting reminder of her past.

Kita slowly made progress with Julie, even snuggling on the couch.

But when she was adopted by Kayla Kovatch, her fears resurfaced. Kita arrived at her new home as timid as ever, hiding under pillows, cowering by the bed, and once again, refusing to go outside.

It seemed her progress had vanished.

But this time, Kita had Raven and Flair.

These two furry siblings became her silent guides. Kita watched them play, observed their carefree spirits, and slowly began to trust.

“As she saw Flair and Raven take off, she felt a little bit more comfortable to take off as well,” Kayla shared.

Gradually, the outdoors transformed from a source of terror into a place of joy.

Today, Kita’s days of hiding are long gone.

She lounges happily with Raven, Flair, and even the family’s newest human addition.

Her journey from a frightened, “broken” pup to a confident, joyful member of a loving family is a beautiful testament to patience, understanding, and the incredible, healing power of sibling love.
