Who says only humans can be artists?

Get ready for the latest, most adorable DIY trend sweeping the pet world: “lick painting”!

This super fun and easy activity, made popular on TikTok, allows your canine companion to create their very own abstract masterpieces, and it’s a fantastic way to bond and stimulate their creative (and hungry) minds.

So, how do you turn your furry friend into a four-legged Picasso?

It’s surprisingly simple and mess-free!

All you need is a canvas, some non-toxic acrylic paints (the kind safe for kids!), and a generous dollop of their favorite spread – natural peanut butter is a classic, but pureed pumpkin, plain yogurt, or mashed banana work great for pups with allergies.

Here’s the genius part: you apply the paint directly onto the canvas, then carefully slide the painted canvas inside a sealed plastic bag (like a gallon Ziploc).

Now for the magic: spread that delicious peanut butter (or other dog-safe spread) on the outside of the bag.

As your dog happily licks and slurps away at the treat, their tongue will press against the bag, smearing the paint on the canvas inside, creating a unique, abstract work of art!

Supervise your furry artist to ensure they’re only licking the bag and not trying to chew through it.

Once their culinary art critique is complete and the peanut butter is gone, simply remove the canvas from the bag and let it dry.

Voila! You’ll have an original piece of “Augi Dog Art” (as creator Tori Mistick calls it) to proudly display, a testament to your dog’s artistic flair and your shared, joyful experience.

It’s not just a painting; it’s a memory, made with love and a lot of happy licks!
