Every dog has its quirks, and that’s what makes them so endlessly lovable.
Some have goofy smiles, others insist on stealing socks, and then there are dogs like Corso—a rescue pup who just discovered that not all barks sound the same.
Corso is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix still learning the ropes of the big, wide world.
His mom, @evyoxendine, works at the humane society, so he’s surrounded by new faces, smells, and sounds every day.
But nothing prepared him for the moment he came face-to-face with a feisty little Chihuahua.
Now, Chihuahuas may be small, but their personalities? Absolutely massive.
And this particular Chihuahua was not holding back. Their bark didn’t sound like the deep “woof” Corso might have expected.
No, this pup’s bark was sharp, squeaky, and startlingly close to the sound of a dog toy.
Corso froze, ears perked, eyes wide, looking as though the laws of dogdom had just been broken right in front of him.
The best part? The Chihuahua couldn’t care less.
While Corso stood there baffled, the little one kept yapping with all the confidence in the world, clearly trying to make a point.
Whether it was a territorial “back off, buddy” or a bold declaration of leadership, the Chihuahua’s squeaky outburst was delivered with total conviction.

One viewer summed it up perfectly in the comments: “The little one is very mad about something, and the big dog is doing their best, but this job is a lot for their sweet soul.”
That’s exactly what it looked like—Corso standing there, politely bewildered, while his tiny opponent let him have it.
It’s possible the Chihuahua was just jealous about Corso being so close to their mom.
Small dogs are often protective of their people, and this little powerhouse was making sure the message got across loud and clear.
Corso, meanwhile, looked like he was trying to process whether this “squeaky toy” was actually alive.
The moment is even funnier when you know Catahoulas themselves are no strangers to being vocal.
They’re herding dogs, bred to communicate loudly and clearly, especially when working with cattle.
Corso probably thought he had the “chatty dog” category all to himself—until he met this pint-sized chatterbox.
Of course, when people think of famously vocal dogs, Siberian Huskies usually top the list.
With their dramatic howls and endless “talking,” Huskies are known for expressing every opinion they have.
It’s part of their pack-dog DNA. And while Catahoulas like Corso can also be expressive, this Chihuahua was on another level entirely—determined to win the argument, no matter what.
In the end, Corso’s reaction is what makes the whole encounter priceless.
His wide-eyed, “what on earth is happening?” expression is relatable to anyone who’s ever been scolded by a smaller but far louder opponent.
It’s a reminder that in the dog world, size has nothing to do with confidence.
And for Corso, this was just one more step in his rescue journey—learning that dogs come in all shapes, sizes, and yes, voices.
Whether it’s a thunderous howl, a booming bark, or a squeaky-toy yip, every dog’s voice is part of what makes them one of a kind.
