Meet Marie — a lovely two-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart as big as her paws (and she weighs about 58 pounds).

She’s currently waiting for her forever home at the Lompoc Animal Center, but she’s not the kind of dog who’ll just sit in her kennel and wait.

Marie’s got personality. She’s got charm. She’s ready to be someone’s best friend.

Marie’s people describe her as a fantastic car companion.

Yep—you’ll spot her looking out the window, tail wagging, perhaps ears flopping in the breeze, soaking in every passing sight.

Road trips? Car rides? Count Marie in.

She also enjoys walks and hikes—though like anyone, she knows her limits.

Marie’s no marathon-walker; she likes to take breaks, sniff the air, rest in the shade, maybe even sit and watch the world go by.

One of her favorite things is being around other dogs.

She has experience in playgroups and seems to enjoy the company, but with a little guidance.

If there’s already a dog in the home, a proper introduction and some supervised playtime will make all the difference.

Marie isn’t the kind of dog who dives into chaos; she’ll do best in a home that’s calm, consistent, and gives her time to settle in.

Routine matters a lot for Marie.

A household that follows predictable patterns—regular walks, regular meals, regular love—will help her feel secure and confident.

She’s got a curious, affectionate energy, but she also benefits from knowing what’s coming.

That kind of stability will help her learn and grow.

If you adopt Marie, the adoption fees cover everything: she’ll be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and fully evaluated for health and wellness.

So you won’t be surprised by hidden bills later. She’ll come home medically set up to thrive.

The Lompoc Animal Center is part of a partnership with CAPA (Companion Animal Placement Assistance), a non-profit that’s been working since 1987 to give animals in Santa Barbara County the care they need.

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, for visits and inquiries.

If you’re considering adding a wonderful dog to your family, Marie is definitely worth meeting.

Marie isn’t perfect—she needs patience.

She needs someone who will give her space when she’s unsure, encouragement when she’s brave, and love every day.

But if you give her those things, she’ll be more than just a pet; she’ll be a loyal companion, a source of joy, and someone who’ll look forward to your voice, your car rides, and your return home.

You don’t need to save the whole world.

Sometimes, saving one dog like Marie is enough to change both your world—and hers.
