Prepare to be inspired by Cole, a remarkable deaf dog who, alongside his devoted owner Chris Hannah, is making a profound difference in the lives of students and veterans through “The Team Cole Project.”
This incredible duo is proving that differences are something to celebrate!
Chris Hannah, an elementary music teacher from New Jersey, adopted Cole in April 2017.
He felt a special connection to the deaf puppy, particularly as his own nephew was also born deaf.
This personal connection fueled their shared mission to advocate for both deaf dogs and humans, spreading messages of joy, acceptance, and celebrating what makes each of us unique.
Their work comes to life through “The Team Cole Project,” a social-emotional learning program that has become a powerful force in classrooms.
Students learn invaluable lessons in compassion and acceptance as they interact with Cole, seeing firsthand how his differences don’t limit his ability to connect and bring happiness.
But their impact extends beyond the classroom.
After Cole earned his therapy certification, he and Chris began regularly visiting the N.J. Veteran’s Memorial Home.
Every Tuesday evening, and on major holidays, they bring comfort and smiles to roughly 300 residents.
Even during the pandemic, they found creative ways to connect, waving to residents through windows, ensuring their message of hope and companionship continued.
Cole and Chris are truly inspiring others to make the world a kinder, more accepting place, showing the unique and powerful perspective an animal can offer.
