Muffin isn’t just another dog on a shelter list.

She’s a soul waiting for someone to see her—not just her coat, her size, her breed, or her adoption status—but her.

Muffin is a 3-year-old female black and white Australian Cattle Dog, tipping the scales at around 67 pounds.

That alone gives you a sense of her strength, but don’t let that fool you—this girl has a heart as soft as her ears.

Staffers at the Lompoc Animal Center say she’s smart, alert, and full of zip. She loves chasing balls, responding to commands, and she thrives on structure and activity.

She’s not a dog to settle for the couch all day.

When you walk into her kennel, you’ll see the spark. A tilt of the head, a pricked ear, a wag that tells you she’s watching, waiting.

She’s incredibly friendly and loving—she doesn’t hide her affection. She leans in, she looks you in the eye, she acts like she knows you could be the one to change her life.

Muffin is the kind of dog who will reward your patience. She’s the kind of dog you come home to, even after a long day, and she’ll push her nose into your hand for just one more scratch.

She’ll wag her tail when she hears your key, and she’ll follow you down the hall just to be near you.

But she’s also got energy—you’ll want to take her to open fields, let her stretch her legs, toss balls, run, explore. She’s happiest when her body and mind are busy.

At the Lompoc Animal Center (Santa Barbara County Animal Services, West Central, Lompoc), Muffin is available for adoption.

You can visit Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or call (833) 422-8413 to learn more about Muffin or other animals currently waiting for homes.

If you’re thinking she might be “too big” or “too active,” I’d challenge you to stay five minutes in her presence and tell me she’s not perfect.

She’s big in personality, not in demands. She’s kind, she’s loyal, she’s full of life.

She’s exactly the kind of dog who tests your rhythm, matches your steps, and surprises you with how easily she becomes home.

Every dog in a kennel is hoping for two things: connection and chance. Muffin deserves both.

She deserves a person who sees her as more than her kennel number. She deserves a family that is ready to move, play, talk, love, discipline, and grow with her.

She deserves someone who says, “Yes. Let’s try.”

If you’re scrolling through adoption pages today, pause for Muffin.

She is the blur of motion chasing a ball, the leaning body when you come home, the gentle warmth beside you on the couch.

And she is waiting.

Would you open your home to a dog with spirit, loyalty, and love to give?

Muffin is ready.
