On a chilly December day in Vancouver, Washington, Amy Campbell’s routine grocery run turned into the luckiest day of her life. While helping a homeless man, she learned he had a tiny puppy he couldn’t care for.
The little dog, no more than 12 ounces, was clearly too young to be away from her mother. Without hesitation, Amy offered $50 and took the fragile pup into her care.
Amy hadn’t planned on adopting another dog so soon—her Rottweiler had passed just three weeks earlier—but the moment she held the puppy, she was smitten. The pup, later named Olive, was estimated to be around four weeks old.
The next morning, Amy brought her to the vet, who confirmed how tiny and vulnerable she was. Outside in the cold, Olive likely wouldn’t have survived much longer.
A mix of Chihuahua, Poodle, miniature pinscher, and dachshund, Olive required round-the-clock care. Amy fed her puppy formula, kept her warm on a heating pad or inside her shirt, and supplemented her diet with high-calorie gels to help her gain weight.
“It was round-the-clock infant care, just much fuzzier,” Amy recalled. Despite her size, Olive thrived, showing a vibrant, feisty personality even in her earliest days.

Over the years, Olive has grown into a confident and adventurous little dog. She has attended puppy school and joined Amy on hiking and kayaking trips that many wouldn’t expect a dog her size to handle.
Olive’s personality is outsized: she’s affectionate, hilariously stubborn, and takes her role as household supervisor seriously—keeping tabs on her cat and even scolding him when necessary. She loves sleeping under the covers with Amy and is inseparable from her golden retriever sibling, Sunny.
Olive’s story has captivated the online community. Amy shares her life on TikTok and Instagram, where fans follow the tiny dog’s adventures. Her rescue journey resonates widely, highlighting how resilience and love can turn even the smallest life into a force of joy and inspiration.
Videos of Olive navigating trails, playing with Sunny, or simply enjoying cuddles have gone viral, earning hundreds of thousands of views and likes. Her story reminds viewers of the incredible impact animals can have on our lives, even when they start out fragile and uncertain.
Now five years old, Olive is thriving, loved, and cherished. She has transformed Amy’s home into a sanctuary of adventure and affection.
From a near-tragic beginning on the streets to a life filled with warmth, exploration, and laughter, Olive embodies the power of second chances and unconditional love.
Amy says, “She changed my life in ways I never expected and gave me a tiny buddy to explore with. She is the best thing that ever happened to me.”
