A dog and a duck might seem like an unlikely pair, but for one Golden Retriever named Barley, meeting a tiny duckling changed her life in ways no one could have imagined.
Barley’s story began with a frightening diagnosis.
In February 2024, the lovable Golden Retriever began experiencing a series of seizures. After veterinary testing, she was diagnosed with epilepsy. Thankfully, medication was able to control the seizures, bringing relief to her family.
But while the medicine helped stop the seizures, it came with an unexpected side effect.
The once-happy, energetic Golden Retriever seemed to lose the spark that made her who she was.

One of those ducklings, later named Louie, joined the family.

As Louie grew, so did their friendship.
