For 10 shelter dogs in Texas, one ordinary August evening turned into something they probably never could have imagined.

Instead of spending another night in their kennels, these lucky pups headed to a baseball stadium for an evening filled with excitement, tasty treats, new faces, and plenty of attention.

But they weren’t there just to enjoy the game.

They had a much bigger goal: finding forever homes.

The adoptable dogs from Irving Animal Services were invited to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on August 4 for a special Bark in the Park event as the Texas Rangers faced the San Francisco Giants.

The outing was part of the annual Clear the Shelters campaign, which works with shelters and rescues across the country to help animals find families.

And these pups were treated like VIPs.

A Night Away From the Shelter

Shelter life can be stressful for dogs.

Even when they’re receiving excellent care, kennels aren’t the same as having a cozy home, a family, and a quiet place to relax. That’s why opportunities to get dogs out of the shelter can be so meaningful.

For these 10 dogs, the ballpark offered a completely different experience.

They were accompanied by shelter staff and volunteers and welcomed into the stadium for the special event.

The Rangers provided complimentary tickets for the canine guests and their human companions, giving the dogs a chance to experience a lively environment surrounded by people who already love animals.

There were plenty of baseball fans around, too.

Because it was Bark in the Park, other spectators were also able to bring their dogs to the game. That meant the shelter pups had no shortage of potential friends—and potential adopters—to meet.

Photos from the event captured the pups looking right at home in their temporary baseball surroundings. One dog named Donald was photographed enjoying a hot dog, while Elena was pictured happily sampling a French fry.

The 2026 campaign marked its 12th year, and the program has helped more than 1.3 million pets find homes since its beginning, including 160,000 animals in 2025.

For Irving Animal Services, being part of the campaign is especially meaningful. The shelter has participated since the program began, helping bring attention to dogs and cats who are waiting for their chance at a new life.
