For days, a black-and-white dog lay helplessly among trash and foliage, crying out as people passed by.

She couldn’t stand.

She couldn’t walk.

All she could do was wait and hope that someone would finally notice her.

Thankfully, someone did.

Her Cries Finally Reached Someone

Earlier this month, a Good Samaritan reported seeing the injured dog lying in the bushes. She appeared unable to move, and her whimpers could be heard throughout the neighborhood.

When rescuer Arturo Flores arrived, he found exactly what the caller had described.

The dog was lying on her side, surrounded by trash and foliage. She was clearly in pain, but she continued crying for help.

It was heartbreaking to realize that she had apparently been lying there for days.

Nobody had come.

Until Flores arrived.

He carefully scooped the frightened dog up and carried her to his car. He wasn’t going to leave her behind.

The little dog was later named Tillie.

And her life was about to change.

The Reason She Couldn’t Move

Tillie was rushed to Camino Pet Hospital for an extensive evaluation.

There, veterinarians discovered the devastating reason she had been unable to get up.

She had a broken pelvis.

Suddenly, her days of crying and inability to stand made heartbreaking sense. Tillie had been suffering from a serious injury while alone on the streets, with no one there to comfort her or help her get medical attention.

But now, she finally had people fighting for her.

The veterinary team believed she could make a full recovery.

For now, Tillie’s treatment plan was relatively simple but incredibly important: cage rest, short potty breaks outside, medication for her pain and plenty of love.

After spending days alone and hurting, she finally had exactly what she had been desperately waiting for.

Someone was taking care of her.

She Knew She Was Finally Safe

One of the most touching moments came after Tillie met the veterinarian caring for her.

Instead of looking frightened or desperate, she appeared to understand that someone was finally helping.

Her rescuers noticed the gratitude in her expression as she looked into the doctor’s face.

And with medication and constant affection, Tillie’s condition began improving.

Only a few days after her rescue, she was already showing signs of recovery.

She was even smiling again.

There was still uncertainty about whether she would eventually need surgery to repair her pelvis, but for the first time in what must have felt like an incredibly long time, Tillie wasn’t facing her pain alone.

A Brighter Future

Tillie still had a long road ahead.

Her rescuers were searching for the right medical foster home where she could continue recovering in a comfortable, loving environment.

But they were optimistic about her future.

Despite everything she had endured, Tillie had held onto her sweet personality and her determination to keep going.

Now, she had people determined to do the same for her.

The dog who once lay helplessly on a pile of trash, crying and hoping somebody would stop, finally had a team surrounding her with care.

She had been waiting for someone to help.

Someone finally did.

And from now on, Tillie would never have to beg for help again.
