For more than a year, Timothy waited for someone to see what his caregivers already knew.

He was a wonderful dog with plenty of love to give. He enjoyed playing, going for walks, and getting close to the people around him.

He could be goofy and energetic one moment, then happily settle in for a long cuddle the next.

But despite all those wonderful qualities, Timothy kept getting overlooked.

His wait lasted 401 days.

Now, the mixed-breed dog has finally found the family he had been waiting for.

A Sweet Dog Waiting for His Chance

Timothy’s journey with Wags & Walks Nashville began in September 2025, when the organization rescued him.

By January, he was still searching for a permanent home.

The rescue introduced him to potential adopters as a one-year-old, 45-pound sweetheart with striking eyes and a personality that deserved to be discovered.

His favorite activities offered a pretty good picture of the companion he could become.

Timothy loved running around, going for walks, and playing with sticks.

He could make an excellent walking or running partner for someone who enjoyed spending time outdoors.

But he wasn’t all energy.

When the excitement settled, Timothy was perfectly happy curling up beside someone for hours of snuggles. He even enjoyed climbing into a person’s lap to get a little extra affection.

The rescue described him as sweet, goofy, and loving.

And he had plenty of qualities that could make him a wonderful addition to a family.

He reportedly did well with children and other dogs, was potty-trained and crate-trained, and considered his crate a cozy, safe place to relax.

There was still one thing he was working on: becoming more confident when left alone. With consistency and reassurance, however, he was making progress.

Timothy wasn’t a perfect dog who needed nothing. He was a loving dog who simply needed someone willing to give him patience.

The Wait Finally Came to an End

For 401 days, Timothy remained in the care of Wags & Walks Nashville.

That’s more than a year of waiting for the opportunity to leave the shelter behind and experience life with a family of his own.

Despite receiving little adoption interest, his caregivers continued sharing his story and showing people the affectionate personality behind his adoption profile.

Then, earlier this month, everything changed.

A couple decided to adopt Timothy, finally giving him the home he had been waiting for.

The organization celebrated the occasion at its adoption center in Hermitage, Tennessee.

After spending so many days in rescue care, Timothy was finally leaving with his new family.

It was a special moment for the people who had cared for him and watched him wait.

The Dog Who Waited Deserves His Happy Ending

Timothy’s adoption is a reminder that shelter dogs shouldn’t be judged by how long they’ve been waiting.

Sometimes, the dog who has spent the most time behind a kennel door is also the one with so much affection left to share.

Timothy loved walks, playtime, sticks, and cuddles.

He had already learned important household routines, and he was continuing to build confidence along the way.

He simply needed someone to look beyond the wait and recognize the companion he could become.

After 401 days, someone finally did.

And now, Timothy gets to begin a new chapter with a family who chose him.

Every dog deserves to know what it feels like to belong. For Timothy, that day finally arrived.
