Some friendships make perfect sense.
A dog meets another dog. They play. They chase each other around the yard. Nobody is surprised.
But a German Shepherd and an emu?
That is a different story.
One fluffy German Shepherd and his giant feathered bestie have apparently decided that the perfect way to spend time together is by playing an endless game of zoomie tag.
A video shared by @erin.summerlin captures the two animals racing around a yard.
At first, the German Shepherd takes off after the emu.
Then the emu turns around.
Suddenly, the chase goes the other way.
And just like that, they are off again.
Neither animal seems particularly interested in deciding who is “it.”
They simply take turns chasing, changing direction, and starting another round.

The German Shepherd’s long fur flies as he races across the grass.
Meanwhile, the emu’s long legs carry the bird quickly in the opposite direction.
It is less like a backyard play session and more like an action movie where the only storyline is: run.
The video becomes even more entertaining thanks to the music.
Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” plays in the background as the two friends tear around the yard.
It is a perfect soundtrack for two friends committed to harmless chaos.
What makes the friendship especially sweet is that the game goes both ways.
This is not one animal chasing another while the second one desperately tries to escape.
They appear to genuinely enjoy taking turns.
The German Shepherd starts a chase.
The emu responds.
Then they switch.
Again.
And again.
It makes you wonder how long they can keep going before somebody needs a nap.
Viewers clearly loved the unusual friendship.
One person said the video, along with the Joan Jett song, made their day. Another described the animals as unlikely best friends who were living their best lives.
And one German Shepherd owner had perhaps the funniest reaction of all.
After owning three German Shepherds, they joked that none of their dogs had ever “come with an emu.”
Honestly, that does seem like a missed opportunity.
Another viewer admitted that they were already two cats beyond their rental agreement, suggesting an emu was probably not going to fit into the household either.
For everyone watching from a screen, the arrangement is perfect for everyone involved here.
The German Shepherd gets a giant backyard playmate.
The emu gets a furry friend who is always ready to run.
And everyone else gets to enjoy the results.
There is something wonderful about seeing animals ignore the obvious differences between them.
One has fur.
The other has feathers.
One runs on four legs.
The other races around on two.
Yet when it comes to having fun, apparently none of that matters.
They have found a game they both understand.
Chase.
Switch.
Run.
Repeat.
And maybe that is why their friendship is so entertaining.
It does not need an explanation.
They simply enjoy being together.
In a world where best friends can look completely different from one another, this German Shepherd and his emu companion offer a pretty convincing reminder that friendship does not always follow the rules.
Sometimes, your best friend just happens to be the giant bird waiting in the yard.
And when that friend wants to play zoomie tag, you run.

I managed to hit a big win here yesterday. The system is transparent and the games feel fair. Good luck everyone at br57win.
