Seo is the kind of dog who doesn’t just want a family—he wants to be right beside them.

The 1-year-old Belgian Malinois is currently waiting for his chance at a forever home, and everyone who meets him seems to notice the same thing: Seo is affectionate, eager to please, and happiest when he has a human nearby.

At around 65 pounds, he’s certainly not a tiny lap dog. But according to the people caring for him, Seo has earned a much sweeter nickname: “velcro dog.”

He loves being close to his people and appears happiest when he’s included in whatever they’re doing.

Shelter Life Is Getting Hard for Seo

Unfortunately, the busy shelter environment has become overwhelming for this young dog.

The constant smells, noises, and activity can be a lot for Seo, which is why he’s especially in need of either a permanent adopter or a foster home where he can decompress in a calmer setting.

Despite feeling overwhelmed, Seo has plenty of wonderful qualities that make him stand out.

He’s eager to learn and enjoys going for walks. He’s also reportedly comfortable walking on a leash and hasn’t shown reactivity toward cars or bicycles.

For the right person, Seo could be the kind of companion who wants to turn every ordinary day into an opportunity to spend time together.

Could You Be Seo’s Person?

Belgian Malinois are intelligent, energetic dogs who generally thrive when they have structure, activity, training, and meaningful interaction with their humans.

Seo appears ready to learn—and he’s waiting for someone willing to give him the time and environment he needs to thrive.

For now, his biggest wish may be surprisingly simple:

A quiet place. A loving person. And somewhere he finally feels at home.

Seo is currently available through the Lompoc Animal Center in California.

Anyone interested in giving him a forever home—or helping him temporarily through fostering—is encouraged to contact the shelter for current adoption information.

Sometimes, the dog who needs you most is the one quietly waiting behind a shelter door.

For Seo, that wait could end with one special person walking through it.
