The fluffy giant has decided that he is the main attraction in his home. So whenever guests arrive, Chewy is ready to make sure they know exactly who they’ve come to visit.
Obviously, They’re Here for Chewy
A recent video captures Chewy’s reaction when people come over.
The moment he realizes someone has arrived, he runs out to greet them with his tail wagging and an unmistakably happy expression on his face.
He’s not exactly being subtle about how excited he is.
Chewy appears completely convinced that the arrival of a guest is an important event—and naturally, he needs to be involved.
After all, why would anyone come to his house if they weren’t hoping to see him?
The best part is that his guests seem perfectly happy to play along.
They’re gathered around Chewy, giving him plenty of attention and pets. So from his perspective, the evidence is overwhelming.
People arrive.
They immediately focus on him.
Therefore, they obviously came specifically for him.

He’s Hard to Ignore
It’s not just Chewy’s personality that makes him impossible to overlook.
His appearance is equally impressive.
The Newfoundland has a fluffy, shiny brown coat, along with lighter-colored tails and paws that make him look as though someone dipped the ends in paint.
With his enormous size, beautiful coat and cheerful personality, Chewy certainly makes a memorable first impression.
And once he comes bounding over to greet someone, it’s probably difficult for anyone to resist giving him some attention.
In fact, it may be less of a question of whether guests came to see Chewy and more of a question of whether they can visit the house without seeing him.
The Breed Might Explain Some of It
Chewy’s friendly attitude isn’t necessarily unusual for his breed.
Newfoundlands are well known for being affectionate and gentle despite their impressive size. They’re often described as patient with children and other dogs and generally enjoy meeting new people.
That combination of size and sweetness has helped give Newfoundlands a reputation as wonderful family dogs.
So perhaps Chewy isn’t being overly confident after all.
Maybe he’s simply living up to his Newfoundland personality.
He’s friendly.
He’s affectionate.
He loves meeting people.
And apparently, he expects everyone to love meeting him right back.
