Mother dogs give everything they have to their puppies.

They protect them, comfort them, and love them with unwavering devotion. So when that chapter suddenly comes to an end, it’s not unusual for a mama dog to need a little extra time—and a lot of extra love.

For one rescue dog named Gabby Sue, life has been filled with heartbreaking twists. But despite everything she’s endured, she’s still greeting each new day with hope that someone will finally see what an incredible companion she is.

Gabby Sue, a 4-year-old Brittany Spaniel mix, first entered a shelter alongside her litter of puppies. Like any devoted mother, she cared for them until they were old enough to begin the next chapter of their lives.

One by one, her puppies were separated from her so they could find homes of their own.

While that outcome was wonderful for the puppies, it left Gabby Sue struggling with the sudden loss.

According to the rescue caring for her, she became noticeably withdrawn after being separated from her litter. The emotional change was difficult to watch, and before long, her future became even more uncertain.

As the days passed without an adopter, Gabby Sue found herself facing the unthinkable.

She was running out of time.

Fortunately, help arrived just when she needed it most.

The National Brittany Rescue & Adoption Network (NBRAN) stepped in and rescued her only hours before she was scheduled to be euthanized, giving her the second chance every shelter dog deserves.

Today, Gabby Sue is safe, but she’s still searching for the one thing she hasn’t found yet—a forever family.

A touching video shared by her foster captures the dog behind the heartbreaking story.

Instead of a broken spirit, viewers see a bright-eyed pup happily playing outdoors, carrying a tennis ball with pride, and soaking up every bit of affection she receives.

Her tail wags, her eyes sparkle, and she leans into every moment of attention, making it clear she hasn’t given up on people.

Those who know Gabby Sue describe her as a loving companion who absolutely adores spending time with her humans.

She’s especially fond of playing fetch and would happily chase a ball for as long as someone is willing to throw it. She also loves children and thrives when she’s close to the people she trusts.

Like many rescue dogs, Gabby Sue has her own unique needs.

She would likely do best as the only dog in the home, though rescue staff believe she could also do well with a calm, respectful male canine companion.

More than anything, she needs patience, stability, and someone willing to let her settle into a life where she’ll never have to wonder if she’s safe again.

Stories like Gabby Sue’s are an important reminder that mama dogs are often overlooked once their puppies have all been adopted.

The puppies quickly capture hearts with their tiny paws and playful personalities, while their mothers are sometimes left waiting behind.

Yet those mothers have just as much love to give.

In fact, many become incredibly loyal companions once they finally have a family of their own.

Gabby Sue has already survived heartbreak, uncertainty, and a frightening brush with losing everything.

Now, all that’s missing is a place to call home.

Somewhere, there’s a family looking for a gentle, affectionate dog who simply wants to play fetch, receive belly rubs, and spend her days surrounded by people who love her.

Hopefully, that family finds Gabby Sue soon.

Because after everything she’s been through, it’s finally her turn to be the one who’s chosen.
